The Communication Sciences and Disorders program is delighted to announce Stephanie Hicks, Certified Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified University Language Therapist, will join the faculty. She will provide speech-language pathology services and supervise graduate and undergraduate clinical students beginning this summer.
Hicks completed her master’s degree at the University of Alberta in 1993. She then worked in a variety of settings, including early childhood, adult inpatient/outpatient, and school settings. She has extensive experience working with children with learning differences and worked at Shelton School in Dallas, Texas for 16 years. She has been trained in Take Flight, The Association Method and the SEE (Sequential English Education) program – all reading programs for dyslexia.
After returning to Fayetteville in 2015, she served students in public and private schools, in addition to therapy in private practice. She has been supervising graduate students in the field of speech therapy since 1995. She will provide therapy for children and adolescents with reading difficulties, speech sound disorders and/or language disorders beginning in early June of This year.
Program Director Rachel Glade said, “We are incredibly fortunate to have someone with such extensive clinical experience and unique clinical expertise to join our program. This is a great opportunity for our students and another way for our clinic to better serve the community.
